the musician airat naryshkin (the very airat) is quite an unusual figure on moscow electronic scene. popular club-culture & music magazine ptiuch called airat >one of the godfathers of the russian electronic music<. he took part in the international album volume transmission (ambient), label worm interface (england),1999. airat with alex paterson (the orb) made an electronic performance in moscow (ketama cafe) last autumn.

cesar merveille first joined the cadenza team in 2009 with the outstanding ep. descarga, produced alongside fellow artist pablo cahn and garnering high critique from industry and public alike. a well known and much loved figure within candenzas vagabundos ensemble and equally the international club circuit, it is with great pleasure that cadenza welcome cesar for his debut solo release on the label. maayancholy is a beautiful and heart wrenching record, showcasing the delicate and fiercely musical palette of the french producer. introducing with shimmering open cymbals. light and airy they rustle simultaneously and offer diversity via their multiple manipulation. unsettled and sporadic, they splash throughout the remainder of the piece in an ethereal manner, casting light over delicate steinway piano keys and stabbing muted chord sequences. argentinean artist guti composed the aforementioned piano, his jazz and pianist training clearly used to full degree on maayancholy with simplistic singular key arrangements and piercing chord sequences. as the ascending chords rise, they dance magically alongside the pitter patter of percussive drums in a stripped back and raw demeanour. maayancholy effortlessly lays bare the emotive side of merveille through this ambient and surprising track. luciano picks up the remix duty for with a 16 minute interpretation. as condensed cymbals and piano chords are electronically warped, urgency prevails and groove sets in, securing lucianos twisted version as the perfect companion for the simplistic original. pace quickened and intensity sharpened, luciano demonstrates the clear dance floor attributes within . maayancholy in an electronic reinterpretation fit for the floor

>les patates<, the fresh new rrygular release by tassilo, one half of pan-pot, is not an homage to french agriculture but a serious techno smasher with high club potential. at first, theres just a nice party atmosphere and … then this rough beat drops in! the small potatoe >petite patate< surprises by adding rudimental elements like the hihat and snare drum always a little late. but you have the feeling you havent missed something yet. this number just sneaks from behind and lulls you in with billowing pads until you sense the final rave sound as a self-evident consequence of it all. the message by g-tech right before the drop proves right - there is not a lack of vibration here! its all about the mixture … and in this case its just felicitous: male choir, clanking cymbals and finally the riff that this track subsists on. tassilo knows how to send the short melody-figure through the different stages of sound design, even though it might have been lively enough without it. this gives the big potatoe >grosse patate< a level of dynamic, that most contemporary techno releases just dont provide.

satyr - roadrunner liebedetail welcomes new artist satyr, who will remain anonymous for the time being, yet we assure you he is a figure embedded deep with the scene, producing and djing worldwide for the last 8 years. this new creative angle does as his teasing artist bio promises, stay true to his acid house roots, and roadrunner is a fittingly excitable, frenetic synthesiser trip that rises and climbs with great intensity and clarity of sound. wareika - rumba swing the trio of wareika return with rumba swing, their second outing on the label. perfectly jazz infected, with of course a healthy measure of that rhumba timing, this lazy, psychedelic journey track meanders through lush fields of guitar improvisations, tumbling drums, piano refrains and eerie pitching elements, all neatly strung together with wareikas impeccable production.

a relatively recent partnership, harkin & raney draws from years and years spent lost in music. steve raney (known to many as oneauff) came to nyc in 2005 with ten years of djing already under his belt. it was shortly thereafter that he connected with eamon harkin, an irish-born dj who’s become a central figure in the city’s party scene thanks to his hugely influential club nights fun, prime time, mister saturday night, and sunday best.

pablo mandelbrot claims to be from bar harbor, maine on the north-eastern coast of the u.s.a. when asked about his upbringing he mentions various occupations including sardine canner and quota negotiator as well as hinting at some dark years spent working in the aqua-culture industry. about his music he says little, summing up his productions with the cryptic declaration: >disco is a deep sea<. we are not entirely sure where or when the two tracks on this 12inch were recorded and the only information from mandelbrot himself is that he has sometimes collaborated with the late conny plankton (who also engineered these two tracks), a legendary figure of the maine/nova scotia electronic music scene. pablo also insists that both tracks are >under exclusive license from lob-starr records<, although we have never heard of this label and their representatives have yet to contact us. we hope you enjoy these two slices of hypnoboogie disco, smoked, cured and de-boned for your convenience.
